Today I would like to show you how to do it yourself - shirt with lips.
The screen print tops have been super big for a while. You can see all sorts of different prints on tank tops, tees or sweaters. They are fun! But did you know you can do it yourself for less than half of the price in the store? Plus you can choose the picture you like and use it on your shirt. I decided to try doing it myself and I am surprised how nice it turned out, so i wanted to share it with you.
Here is what you need:
- A top (I am using a long sleeve cotton shirt from Forever 21)
- Iron on transfer sheet ( I am using : Dark T-shirt Transfer Iron-on Transfer Sheets, the brand is Tailor, which I got at Michaels)
- Iron
- A piece of cardboard
- A picture you like (I am using pink lips, but you can do whatever you want)
- A computer and printer to print the image
I picked a picture with hot pink lips, since I've been wanting a sweater with lips for a long time, but I just couldn't find a nice one. Just open the photo on your computer and adjust the size and colors, then as I said do a test printing it, if everything looks good proceed printing it on the transfer sheet. Check instructions and make sure you print on the correct side. There are various transfer sheets on the market, so make sure you read the instructions. My instructions stated to wait for the ink to dry for 30 minutes on the transfer sheet, before you transfer the image to the shirt. The sheets that I am using are for inkjet printer only. The instructions say not to reverse or mirror the image before printing. Just print it as it is.
Here is what the printed image looks like:
Then cut the image out .Turn your iron on on the hottest setting with no steam.
Put the shirt on a piece of wood (or thick cardboard) with a pillow case above.(That;s what the instructions say).
Now put the image to the tee. Follow the instructions on the transfer sheets you have.
I peeled the back side of the lips and positioned the image where I wanted on the shirt. Make sure it is centered.
Put a piece of parchment paper over the image. Take the iron and go over the entire image in circular motions. Make sure you hold the iron over each part for at least 30 seconds. Pay special attention to the edges.
And there it is! It looks good !
Thanks for visiting and please share with me your creative ideas!
