If your hair is blonde or you have blonde highlights, you may get some issues with unwanted brassiness.
I thought it may be useful if I recommend some purple shampoos, I've tried and share my personal experience with you.
Let me give you some info on my hair color. My natural hair color is medium ash brown.
I used to have very light, bleach blonde highlights all over my hair, then I had it dyed dark brown, and a year later, my hair is colored dark blonde and I got light blonde highlights on the crown portion of my head.
I always like to use purple shampoo, just to reduce the brassiness and yellowness in your hair. When using hair dye, not bleach, darker hair tends to her very yellow. That's where purple shampoo comes to use.
From my experience, I've found that very dark blue (purple) colored shampoos work best for me. I've tried quite a few brands and the very light purple pigmented ones, do not do anything to my hair, it stays brassy.
I wanted to share with you my opinion on a brand that was recommended by my stylist and I really like their purple shampoo. The brand is French and is called Keune.
The shampoo is Keune Silver Reflex Shampoo
This shampoo is definitely number one on my list. It is a very dark purplish blue color, it is easy to lather and it brightens my hair and highlights a lot. I leave it on for 2-3 minutes before I rinse it. The smell of this shampoo is ok to me. The price is reasonable for the quality you get.
Here are some other brands I've tried:
Joico Color Endure Shampoo
AG Colour Care Sterling Silver Toning Shampoo
Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo
John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone-Correcting Shampoo
Lush O Daddy - this one is well pigmented, a little lighter that the Keune brand and it is also cruelty free. I think it is a good shampoo. It is $19.99 on Amazon.
This one I'm planning to get soon:
Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo
