Ruffian Manicure Using Gel Polish

Ruffian manicure trend is a little old now, but I decided to share with you a manicure I did using gel polish. I was playing with two colors from Gelish's Once Upon A Dream Collection today, and thought it would be cool to do ruffian manicure. It turned ok, I like the combination of the metallic copper underneath and the lilac color on top.
From what I know about Ruffian manicure - it was developed by CND for their 2010 Fall Ruffian show. It is basically a half moon manicure. If you choose the right combination of colors it looks really cool and fun. Most of the time a metallic polish is used as a base and then it is covered with a darker color, leaving a half moon (around 2-3mm) at the base of the nail. I've seen a lot of variations.
For the manicure I did, it might have looked a little better with a slightly darker color on top. It is very important to keep your cuticles clean.
For the manicure I used:
Gelish Oh What a Knight -a metallic pinkish bronze on the bottom, and Gelish All Haile the Queen which is a pink lilac. After applying base coat, I applied 3 coats of Oh What a Knight and topped with top coat. Then I removed the sticky gel residue with alcohol and applied 2 coats of the lilac color. I topped it with top coat. The reason I wanted top coat over the metallic color is because I needed to make perfect lines and did not want the color on top to bleed.
Here are some pictures of this look :)
