DIY ENGLISH BULLDOG TOP USING IRON TRANSFER

Hi,
Today I wanted to share with you a tank top that I made using iron transfer sheets. I've published another DIY tutorial for a top with lips , using the same iron transfer sheets. I had one left, so I thought I can experiment and print a picture of english bulldog on it. ( I like bulldogs a lot). The transfer sheet I had is for dark clothes only, but I took the risk.

All you need for this project is:

  • an iron
  • cotton top
  • computer and printer
  • image you'd like to print and transfer
  • a piece of wood or thick cardboard
Just print the image on the transfer sheet following the instructions. For more details, please refer to my previous post here:DIY Iron Transfer Top With Lips
Cut out the image. Lay it over the top to make sure you are applying it where you want. Put a piece of wood or very thick cardboard between the back and front of the top, so you don't transfer the image to the back as well. The transfer sheets instructions do not suggest using cardboard, they do state to use wood, but since you might not have a large enough piece of wood, I guess you could use cardboard.
Empty water from your iron. Set it on the cotton setting without any steam. Turn on and let it heat.
Apply the iron transfer image following the instructions. For the sheet I used, you don't need to rotate or mirror the image.  I just placed it on the top , put a piece of parchment paper over it and in circular motions ironed it onto the top.
Since the iron transfer sheets I used and for dark fabric, after applying the image I noticed some darker spots on it. I am not sure what the reason is. I've done this many times and never had this happen. But I am not that worried about it. I'll wear it as it is.
