I have a review of the new MelodySusie® Gel Polish Starter Kit and also a mini GIVEAWAY!

I've been in a fun collaboration with MelodySusie, where I was sent their new Gel Polish Starter Kit to try and share my opinion with my readers and all gel polish lovers out there.

My overall impressions with this kit are great, although I do have some recommendations that I'll share with you.

There is a mini LED Gel Polish Curing Lamp (it could be used as a travel lamp) and a lot of other products necessary to do a gel polish manicure at home.

The box and packaging are very nice, too.

The kit includes:

• 6 Watt LED Lamp (you can cure 4 fingers and use it as a travel light, works great)
• 3 gel two step gel polishes in dark navy, wine red and pink (no base coat necessary)
• one top coat (no wipe)
• cuticle pusher
• cuticle nippers
• orange wood sick
• 2 different nail files
• buffer
• toe separators
• manicure brush
• nail tape
• nail glitter
• nail stickers
• a wheel of rhinestones in different colors
• nail french tip decals

A lot of good stuff in the kit, which sells on Amazon for only $49.99 and you get free shipping.

The kit comes in 2 different variations of colors and I really loved the red color, that's why I choose this combination of colors.

APPLICATION AND REMOVAL:

Before I start sharing my experience with the application and removal of the gel polishes, I need to give you some information on my nails. My nails are on the "oily side", no matter if I use cleansing solution and PH bond, before applying gel polish. So most popular gel polish brands last on my nails for about a week. I'm always curious. when experimenting with different brands, because gel polish doesn't last on my nails as long as it is supposed to.

I knew the polish from the MelodySusie® kit will not chip on my nails, because one or two step gels are usually a lot more durable than 3 step gels. 

I prepared my nails for a manicure, just as I always do - clean nails, pushed cuticles, filed and buffed my nail. Then I wiped them with lint free wipe and applied PH bond (not sure if bond needs to ne used, since there is no base) from a different brand. 

Then applied the polish in 3 coats and a coat of top. I cured each coat in the LED lamp from the kit for 45 seconds. If you press the button once, it goes to 45 seconds, if you press it twice it goes to 60 seconds. Keep in mind that darker colors need longer time to cure.

 Do not wipe down the top and cure it for 60 seconds.

I had the blue color from the kit (sorry, I wish they had names, instead of colors) on my nails for 10 days and there was absolutely no chipping.  The top coat is extremely shiny, but it did scratch/went dull (of course, I work a lot with my hands around the house), which is ok with me.

To remove it I had to buff the top coat and soak my nails in acetone (using cotton balls and foil) for about 30 minutes. Well I then had to do some serious scrubbing, because the soaking was not enough. It did take a while to remove, even on my nails, so keep this in mind.

GEL POLISH COLORS:

All three colors in this kit are gorgeous! 

The dark navy one (with shimmer) is my favorite. All of them have shimmer.

The pink one had peachy undertones and very tiny gold shimmer . It is great for Spring!

The dark red color is beautiful as well (I love red!), it also has a nice gold shimmer.

The colors are not sold individually, they are only in the kit. They have no names, which I wish they had, because it is just easier to be popularized.

MY HONEST THOUGHTS ABOUT THE KIT:

 I'm very happy with the quality of the tools and polishes in the kit. It is great for the price. The LED lamp works great, it is portable, but you can only cure 4 fingers at a time.

The colors don't have names, which I believe is because they are part of the kit. It would be a lot easier to find  them (especially if you'd like to see swatches) in search results.

The removal does take a while. Polishes are durable, but I would be happier if it was a little easier to remove them.

My experience with MelodySusie® products is great so far!
